유석현 교수는 가정의학과 전문의로, 질병관리청 감염병감시과와 경기도청 감염병관리과에서 감염병 감시 및 대응 업무를 수행하며 풍부한 현장 경험을 쌓았다. 이후 홍콩대학교 의과대학 내 WHO 협력 감염역학 연구소에서 박사후연구원으로 근무하며 인플루엔자 및 호흡기 바이러스 감염병의 역학 연구에 참여하였다. 현재는 원헬스 랩(onehealth.or.kr)을 운영하며 원헬스(One Health) 관점에서 국내외 감염병 역학, 감시체계 고도화, 백신 효과 및 감염병 정책 평가 연구를 수행하고 있으며, 학생들을 대상으로 실제 현장 사례를 바탕으로 한 감염병 역학 및 공중보건 교육과 멘토링에 힘쓰고 있다.
Prof. Sukhyun Ryu, MD, is a board-certified family physician with practical experience in infectious disease surveillance and outbreak response at national and regional public health agencies in Korea. He completed his postdoctoral training at the WHO Collaborating Centre for Infectious Disease Epidemiology and Control at the University of Hong Kong, where he studied influenza and other respiratory virus epidemics.
Since 2016, he has led the One Health Lab (onehealth.or.kr), which investigates how infectious diseases, particularly influenza and other respiratory viruses, spread in Korea and globally, and how surveillance systems can be strengthened. His work is guided by a One Health approach that connects human, animal, and environmental health. He also teaches and mentors students in infectious disease epidemiology and public health, using case studies from his field experience.
